Early Life and Education

District Collector of Kasaragod, Inbasekar Kalimuthu, an IAS Officer of the 2015 batch from the Kerala Cadre, was born on May 4, 1988, in Devala, Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu. He attended Government Higher Secondary School, Cherambadi, for his early education and completed higher secondary schooling at Government Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, where he topped both 10th and 12th standards. A recipient of the Chief Minister’s Bright Student Award, he later graduated in Agriculture from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, and pursued a postgraduate degree in Agricultural Economics at the College of Agriculture, Hyderabad.

Career Journey

Before joining the civil services, Mr. Inbasekar worked as a Scientist at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, from 2013 to 2015. In 2011, he cleared the Indian Forest Service exam and in 2015 achieved success in the Indian Civil Services exam, becoming the first IAS officer from the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. Starting his career as an Assistant Collector in Calicut in 2016, he went on to serve as Sub-Collector in Fort Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. He also held key positions, including Joint Commissioner of GST, Inspector General of Registration, and Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

Reform Initiatives

As the Inspector General of Registration, Mr. Inbasekar introduced transformative, citizen-friendly reforms such as Anywhere Registration, Complete e-Stamping, Online Certified Copies, and achieved record-high revenue collection for the department. His efforts exemplified a commitment to modernizing public services and improving efficiency.

Personal Life and Heritage

Mr. Inbasekar is married to Dr. Nandini Nandan, an ophthalmologist from Chennai. The couple has a daughter, Aadhiyaa. His family roots trace back to the Pudukottai region of Tamil Nadu. During British rule, his ancestors were taken to Ceylon as plantation workers. Following the 1964 Lal Bahadur Shastri-Bandaranaike agreement, his parents were repatriated to India.
