Paschim Medinipur District
Paschim Medinipur, located in the western part of West Bengal, is one of the largest districts in the state. It was formed in 2002 after the bifurcation of the erstwhile Medinipur district into Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, and Jhargram (which became a separate district in 2017). The district shares borders with Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, and Purulia, as well as the neighboring state of Odisha.
