Ranila Jain Temple

The Ranila Jain Temple, located in the village of Ranila near Charkhi Dadri in Haryana, serves as an important religious and historical site for Jain devotees. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Adinatha, the first Tirthankara of Jainism, and is renowned for its intricate architecture and historical significance.

Lord Adinatha Idol

The temple houses a magnificent idol of Lord Adinatha, intricately carved from red sandstone. Ranjit Singh discovered this idol, which dates back to the 6th-7th century. It features an image of Adinatha at the center, surrounded by depictions of the 24 Tirthankaras in Padmasana and Kayotsarga postures. The idol also displays the Shrivatsa symbol on Adinatha’s chest and a carving of a bull beneath the pedestal. Carvings around the idol depict figures such as Yaksha, flying couples, and other symbols associated with Jain iconography.

Goddess Chakreshwari Devi Idol

Alongside the Adinatha idol, the temple complex includes a smaller shrine dedicated to Goddess Chakreshwari Devi, depicted in Lalitasana seated on Garuda. The goddess has multiple arms, each holding different attributes. Above her head, the statue includes an image of a Tirthankara, with two attendants beside the statue.

Historical Significance

The temple holds great historical value because Ranjit Singh discovered the idols while working on his land in Ranila. He uncovered the idols, believed to be over a thousand years old, and placed them in the temple, where they continue to attract pilgrims and visitors.

Modern Amenities and Visitor Facilities

The Ranila Jain Temple not only serves as a religious center but also provides modern amenities like a Dharamshala (rest house) and a Bhojanalya (eating place) for visitors. The temple stands as an important landmark for Jainism in Haryana and remains a must-visit site for those interested in history, architecture, and spirituality.
