Thrissur Zoo, officially known as the State Museum & Zoo, Thrissur, is a 13.5-acre (5.5 ha) zoological park located in Chembukkavu, at the heart of Thrissur City, Kerala, India. Established in 1885, it is one of the oldest zoos in the country and houses a diverse collection of animals, reptiles, and birds. The zoo complex also features a natural history museum and an art museum, which highlight the region’s social and cultural heritage. Situated just 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the center of Thrissur City, the zoo is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:15 PM, except on Mondays. As one of Kerala’s two zoological parks, it attracts a large number of visitors regularly. Still and video cameras can be used inside the park for a small fee.
