Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath

Yogi Adityanath is the 22nd Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He represents the Gorakhpur constituency and has served as Chief Minister since March 19, 2017. Before entering state politics, he won the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat five times consecutively. A monk and head priest (Mahant) of the Gorakhnath Math, Yogi Adityanath leads the state with a focus on law and order, infrastructure development, and social harmony. He continues to strengthen governance through discipline and decisive leadership.

Early Life and Education

Yogi Adityanath was born on June 5, 1972, in Panchur village of Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand (then part of Uttar Pradesh). His parents named him Ajay Mohan Bisht. He grew up in a simple family that valued education, honesty, and hard work. He studied at local schools and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.

During his college years, he actively participated in social and cultural activities and drew inspiration from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). After completing his education, he joined the Gorakhnath Math in Gorakhpur under the guidance of Mahant Avaidyanath. He later became the head priest of the Math and used his position to promote education, healthcare, and social unity among people.

Chief Minister of Assam

Yogi Adityanath began his political journey in 1998 when he won the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat at just 26 years old, becoming one of India’s youngest Members of Parliament. He continued to win the seat in 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014, strengthening his reputation as a dedicated and accessible leader.

After the Bharatiya Janata Party’s landslide victory in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, party leaders unanimously selected him as the Chief Minister. He took the oath of office on March 19, 2017, and later began his second term in 2022.

As Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has implemented strong measures to improve law and order, attract industrial investment, and promote women’s safety and youth empowerment. He actively encourages infrastructure development, religious tourism, and digital governance. Through his disciplined leadership and commitment to transparency, he continues to transform Uttar Pradesh into a model of good governance and rapid economic growth
