Administrative Framework

At the top, the District Collector and Magistrate serve as the head of administration. The current District Magistrate of Bharatpur is Qummer Ul Zaman Choudhary, IAS, who supervises law and order, revenue collection, and development programs. Furthermore, he acts as the primary link between the state government and the people. The administration is supported by Additional Collectors, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and Block Development Officers who manage specific areas and departments. As a result, governance remains organized and responsive.

Government of Bharatpur: Local Governance

The district is divided into ten tehsils—Bharatpur, Bayana, Deeg, Kumher, Nadbai, Kaman, Nagar, Roopwas, Pahari, and Weir. Additionally, these tehsils are managed through nine Panchayat Samitis and over 370 Gram Panchayats, ensuring efficient rural administration. In urban areas, the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation oversees civic management, sanitation, and local development. Besides this, the Bharatpur Development Authority (BHDA) works on planned urban growth, infrastructure expansion, and housing projects.

Government of Bharatpur : Role

The District Magistrate plays a crucial role in implementing welfare schemes and maintaining harmony. He coordinates between departments such as education, health, agriculture, and rural development. Moreover, disaster relief operations, public grievance redressal, and social security programs are handled under his direction. Through these efforts, public trust and participation in governance continue to grow.

Development and Welfare Initiatives

The Government of Bharatpur emphasizes both urban modernization and rural upliftment. Since the district has a rich agricultural base, irrigation and crop diversification are key priorities. In addition, healthcare centers, schools, and women’s welfare programs are being strengthened. Tourism also receives major attention due to attractions like the Keoladeo National Park. Furthermore, digital initiatives and e-governance are being promoted to enhance administrative efficiency. Therefore, Bharatpur’s government strives to create a district where development, culture, and sustainability move forward together.
