The South Goa District Collectorate operates under the leadership of the District Collector. Supporting the Collector are three Additional Collectors, eight Deputy Collectors, Sub-Divisional Officers, Taluka Mamlatdars, Section Officers, and Clerical Staff. The District Collectorate is entrusted with overseeing the entire district’s administration and is organized into various sections, each responsible for specific functions related to governance and public services.
Revenue Administration
The responsibilities include managing off-site plans, granting land under the L.R.C. of 1968, overseeing cumeri cultivation and land conversions, recovering government dues under L.R.C., handling issues related to agricultural tenancy and mundkar, and addressing matters under the Wild Life Act. It also involves the rehabilitation of landless persons due to land acquisition, granting provisional grants under Legislative Diploma No. 349, overseeing the transfer of rights (such as sale or gift) of granted government land under Decree No. 3602, and the computerization of land records. Additionally, it includes proceedings related to land encroachments, enforcement of the Public Premises Act, managing illegal constructions and unauthorized land conversions, regulating mining leases, addressing matters under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, and handling issues related to demolitions and the Forest Dwellers Act.
Civil Administration
Handles matters related to communidade, allocation of government and office accommodations, management of registered devasthans, and the response to natural calamities. It also oversees the development and implementation of disaster management plans for emergencies.
Election Management
Handles the organization and management of various elections, including Lok Sabha, Legislative Assembly, Zilla Panchayat, Gram Panchayat, and Cooperative Societies elections. Additionally, it is responsible for maintaining the electoral roll and issuing photo identity cards to voters.
