According to the 2011 Census of India, Odia was the most widely spoken first language in the district, used by 43.85% of the population. Sadri followed with 14.8%, while 9.62% spoke Mundari. Additionally, 6.98% of residents spoke Hindi, 5.57% used Kurukh, 4.57% spoke Kisan, and 4.38% communicated in Kharia. Urdu and Bengali were the first languages for 2.14% and 1.52% of the population, respectively.
