Sargaalaya Kerala Arts & Crafts Village is a 20-acre arts and crafts village located in Iringal, near Vatakara in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The Kerala Tourism Department established it with an investment of around 15 crores and opened it on 19 February 2011. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the then Home and Tourism Minister, inaugurated the village. The Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society manages the village for a ten-year period.
Traditional Arts and Crafts
The village is home to numerous handicraft workshops, where visitors can observe skilled artisans practicing time-honored crafts such as coir weaving, pottery, wood carving, handloom weaving, and making brass items. These crafts represent the diverse cultural traditions of Kerala and have been passed down through generations. Visitors can not only watch the craftsmen at work but also purchase unique handmade products, supporting local artisans.
