Honourable Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant
Pramod Pandurang Sawant (born Pramod Panduronga Sawant; 24 April 1973) is an Indian politician and Ayurveda medical practitioner who has been the 11th Chief Minister of Goa since March 2019. He has represented the Sanquelim constituency in the Goa Legislative Assembly for the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2012. Also Mr. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai is the 19th Governor of Goa, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party, since taking office on 7th July 2021.
Early Life and Education
Sawant was born on April 24, 1973, in Mapusa, Goa, to Panduronga Govind Sawant (later known as Pandurang Sawant) and Padminim P. Sawant. He earned a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery degree from the Ganga Education Society’s Ayurvedic Medical College in Kolhapur, as well as a Master of Social Work postgraduate degree from Tilak Maharashtra University in Pune.
Chief Minister of Goa:
Following the passing of Manohar Parrikar, the Chief Minister’s position in Goa became vacant. Pramod Sawant was subsequently elected by the Legislative Assembly and was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Goa on March 19, 2019.
