
Honorable Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai
Introduction
P. S. Sreedharan Pillai (born December 1, 1954) is an Indian politician, attorney, and author who has been serving as the 19th Governor of Goa since 2021. He previously held the position of governor of Mizoram from 2019 to 2021 and was the Bharatiya Janata Party’s president in Kerala from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2018 to 2019. On September 16, 2023, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by ASBM University in Bhubaneswar, presented by the Hon’ble 14th President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Dr. Pramod Sawant is the 11th Chief Minister of Goa, representing Bhartiya Janta Party since 19th March 2021.
Governor of Goa
Pillai began his political career with the ABVP, the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, where he served as the state secretary during his college years. He has held various positions within the BJP, including Kozhikode district president, state secretary, and general secretary. He served as the BJP State President in Kerala from 2003 to 2006 and was also the BJP Prabhari for Lakshadweep UT in 2004. Under his leadership, the NDA secured two parliamentary seats in Kerala (P. C. Thomas, IFDP) and Lakshadweep (P. Pookunhi Koya, JDU) in 2004. He was reappointed as state president in 2018, succeeding Kummanam Rajasekharan. On October 25, 2019, he was appointed Governor of Mizoram.
